Congress Please! Please!! This is How Americans Would Like the Defunding Obamacare Resolution to be Negotiated in Congress

Congress tends to leave budget issues (in this case, the continuing resolution issue because the Senate and Pres. have yet to pass a budget) until the last minute. As we approach the September 30th deadline, Congress is only now beginning to address the issue.

First of all, many of us are very pleased that the Speaker of the House, John Boehner, stated that the House of Representatives will pass a continuing resolution which defunds Obamacare but allows the rest of the government to continue to operate.

Now when the resolution goes to the Senate, we know from prior history that Sen. Harry Reid and Pres. Obama will claim that the Republicans are trying to shut down the government. Then, the Democratic Senators who are in the majority, will most likely vote against the continuing resolution (CR) and send it back to the House of Representatives.

Now this is where the character and will of the Republican Party will be put to the test. They need to negotiate from strength, knowing that the majority of Americans wish to defund and eventually replace Obamacare.

As an American patriot and someone who understands not only the economical but physical hardships that will occur with Obamacare, I make the following recommendations for the House.

1. Have already a prepared counterproposal that can be voted on the day the
Senate rejects the initial continuing resolution defunding Obamacare. This
counterproposal should include funding the government but delaying the individual mandate of Obamacare as long as the employer mandate is delayed. Also,subsidies to the exchanges should be delayed as long as there is no income verification in process. Money allotted to the IRS with regard to Obamacare should be delayed until the individuals that were involved in the IRS scandal targeting the Tea Party are brought to justice. And lastly, no funding for Obamacare should exist until the waiver for Congress and its staff is removed and the law applies equally to them.

2. Now when Sen. Reid receives this CR, all the Republicans should stand firm and allow Sen. Reid to shut the government down. I believe that the Senate Democrats will give in at this point and try to negotiate to remove the waiver for Congress and its staff and agree to delaying funding for Obamacare for a year. In return, they may ask to raise the debt ceiling which the House can allow if Obamacare is defunded. If Sen. Reid is foolish enough to allow a government shutdown over items the Pres. has brought upon himself such as the waivers and delays, then the political fallout will ultimately be on the Democrats for being selfish and obstructionists.

Let us hope and be optimistic that Congress can actually do "The Will of the People" and find a way to defund/delay Obamacare, so that all Americans will benefit in the long run.
